Gymnasia Has Been Visited By The Japanese Diplomat
On May 23, our gymnasia was paid a visit by the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Ukraine Hoshino Yuichi, which was initiated by himself. The day before he met the regional and city authorities and even took part in planting the sakura trees near the Valley of Roses.
He and his interpreter Kyrylo spent a 1-hour meeting with senior students. The diplomat told them about Japan as well as the state of its education, science and economy. Mr. Yuichi put a lot of questions, checking how much the students know about this faraway country, and afterwards answered the numerous questions of the students.
The interpreter also provided them with more detail about the educational system of Japan.
A pleasant discovery was the fact that all, with no exceptions, Japanese students get rather high scholarships, and Ukrainians, if enrolled successfully, will have the same equal opportunities for free education in this country as the natives.
In the end of the meeting, the guests presented gymnasia with the picturesque year 2018 calendar and four sets of learning materials. The gymnasia principal had a long conversation regarding the revival of the study of the Japanese language in our school.
Some three years ago we were learning this interesting oriental language, but the project stopped because of the absence of qualified Japanese teachers in Cherkasy. Hopefully, soon things will reverse again.
