The «Geneza" publishing house has just instantly published two Spanish textbooks for Form 6 (the first and sixth year of study), the co-author of which is the gymnasia teacher Bereslavs’ka Valentyna Ivanivna.
It should be noted that this is the eleventh textbook compiled by Valentyna Ivanivna in collaboration with the head of the laboratory of Foreign Language Teaching of the Institute of Pedagogy of the NAPS of Ukraine, Red'ko V. G., Ph.D.
Valentyna Ivanivna also compiled workbooks as components of the new educational complete set of Spanish for Forms 1, 2 and 3.
The testing of textbooks and workbooks at the stage of their design as well as of the finished product was carried out in classes where Spanish is taught.
We are looking for participants (13-14 years old) and 2 active, sociable and experienced group leaders (no age limits) of Ukrainian group for the international youth exchange “Let’s Move”. Project will be held in Lithuania, not far from Vilnius from 10/09/2014 till 18/09/2014.
Group-leader should attend 2 activities: - APV (Advanced Planning Visit) - from the 21/08/2014 till 23/08/2014. Please take into consideration that all expenses for visa, transportation, accommodation and food will be covered. - Youth exchange - from 10/09/2014 till 18/09/2014.
The GENESA Publishing House has just published Spanish Workbook for Form 3, one of the authors of which is our teacher Bereslavs’ka V. I. The workbook is part of a new training set of Spanish for Form 3, developed according to a new syllabus of 2012; it contains interesting exercises, game tasks, exercises to develop logic.
The testing of the workbook at the stage of its compiling was carried out in Form 3-B.
In the gymnasia teacher’s room there is a special exhibition of the textbooks and workbooks compiled by the teacher.
The senior gymnasia pupils are aware of the youth club Interact that works at the gymnasia and almost every Saturday invites everyone to join the charitable work at the regional shelter TEPLIY DIM (WARM HOUSE) and other actions and projects.
On June 27, Potepa Janusz, the governor of the Rotary District, visited Cherkasy and presented the 11th former Ivan Lementovsky an Interact great sign of the president of the club.
Starting with July 1, Ivan will already become the president. His predecessor Mykhailo Gorbunov did a lot for the development and establishment of the club
On June 6, the solemn rewarding of the winners of the "INTERFILMFEST", annually organized by the TV channel "Inter", was held at the cinema "Kinopanorama" in Kyiv.There was our gymnasia pupil among the awarded too.
The aim of the festival was to light new stars, to support talents, to find new ideas for formats, and to encourage cooperation of the InterMediaGroup with young TV people and cinematographers.
The works of the Festival participants were evaluated by Ukrainian and foreign masters, film industry professionals and television market. The chairman of the jury was Yegor Benckendorf, the CEO of the TV channel "Inter", the co-chair was Irena Rudina, an associate professor of Karpenko-Kary National University of Theatre, Film and Television, Kyiv. The jury viewed hundreds of works, and then selected the top 25 at first. Our gymnasia pupil Anton Yakovenko decided to try his hand and sent the film "Reflection", the script of which he had written by himself, he was also the film director and operator. He shot it with his iPhone. His classmates and friends were the actors. The work on the project was very difficult. As a result, the film won one of the main festival prizes, a statuette of "Interfilmfest 2014" and the Diploma of the author of the short-length film "Reflection" in the special category from NTN. The audience responded very emotionally to the work of the 15-year-old director. His film will be broadcast live on June 29, on the channel NTN.
Cherkasy First City Gymnasia, Ukraine, joined the E-twinning project “Meet My Country” in the winter of 2014. The project “Meet My Country” was initiated by Giovanna Gorziglia, a teacher of English from Genova, Italy. There are 16 teachers and 9 pupils from different countries of the world who participate in the project. Actually, we participated in several stages of the project. First, we took part in the project devoted to Christmas celebrations. The students, members of the International School Theatre, eagerly performed in Christian scenes. They staged three performances, we videoed them and took photos of them. The photos of Christmas celebrations were uploaded on the project webpage.
On June 10, a summer language school for gymnasia 10th formers will begin its work. For several days, the pupils will practise improving their English. Experienced gymnasia teachers and Zoe Knight, an English teacher from Covenant College, Georgia, USA will work with the pupils. The summer school classes will be held at gymnasia.
The project at gymnasia is coordinated by Ananyeva N. V., a vice-principal.
On May 28, we received the next 32-page issue of the gymnasia newspaper “UNIKAL’NY HIMNAZYST” that described the life of the gymnasia for the last few months. So, in this issue its readers will find the names of all the winners of contests and MAcS of the regional and national stages, memories of the day of self-government, the trip to Israel, a story of the former graduate Andriy Ryabishchuk about his teacher of PE Lev Kagan. The central supplementary sheet of the newspaper is devoted this year graduates. There are articles about our scouts, an interesting article from the USA, an interview with the teacher of Ukrainian Korytan N. I. For the first time, the editorial board interviewed the parents of a future first-former who gave their reasons for choosing the FCG. A lot of information is devoted to sport; it was particularly interesting to learn about the sports achievements of Alhirdas Chaplikas. A big part of the newspaper space is devoted to primary school. Reading their creative works, we can become convinced that the next generation is extremely smart and talented. The editorial board continued to publish an excerpt from the book about the gymnasia "The First Ministerial." And of course, in the first page there is a large photograph THE OLYMPIC NINE with the names of our most titled Olympiad and MAcS winners.
Soon, it will be possible to read the digital version of the paper on our website. The newspaper, having a run of a thousand copies, was published in the city of Vinnytsya.
On May 20, 2014 on the initiative of the ICEA (Agency for International Student Exchange and Study), a regular SKYPE conference took place, this time - with teachers from the Emerald Cultural Institute, Dublin, Ireland. The teachers shared some general information about the educational institution, faculties and international scholarships. Of particular interest was a presentation about Ireland and its capital Dublin, customs and traditions of the Irish. Form 10A pupils Kravets V. Manzholenko I., Alexandrova D., Smirnova Y., Sluchynska V., and Voropay V. and Mazurovskiy D., who lived in Ireland for 8 years, attended the video conference. Easy communication of the gymnasia pupils with the teachers demonstrated a high level of English.
Some days later, Svyatoslav Mykhailyuk, the gymnasia graduate, is going to Kansas for an interview and special tests according to the information found by the website editorial board on isport.ua.
Four other programs - Virginia, Michigan, Oregon and Iowa State, take interest in Mykhailyuk, who is called by many experts to have been the most talented European talent since the Ricky Rubio. However, in this race Kansas seems to stand the best chance, because the Jayhawks has always been considered to be among top ten schools in NCAA.
It is expected that if Svyatoslav still will opt for America, he will have to go through a set of standard procedures, including a test in basic subjects of the curriculum of the university. However, we can not reject the European option, as top Spanish clubs still take interest in Mykhailyuk.
Right on his return, Svyatoslav will take a written final examination in Ukrainian. He is quite resolved to get a certificate from the FCG and only then to seek his fortune overseas.
On May 8, on the eve of Victory Day, the FCG 6th formers (class teachers Nedzel'ska V.I. and Sukhenko K.O.) conducted an educational class on the Hill of Glory. They remembered the glorious heroes who had defended their country and fought for peace for future generations at the price of their lives. They talked about the life at the Gymnasia during those tumultuous years and remembered the graduates and teachers who had taken part in the fighting. Honoring the memory of the fallen in World War II, the pupils laid flowers at the foot of the hill.
Maksym Paliy, Form 11A, has gathered almost a unique number of his personal achievements in 2014. This year, he was the first at the National Olympiad in French (Stage 4), the second at the French MAcS (Stage 3). He received a DELF international language certificate (Level C1) not long ago, and just recently it has become known about his receiving the IELTS Certificate in English. It was Level C1 again.
Besides, Maksym independently studied Spanish and got an international certificate of the Institute Cervantes, Level B1.
It is possible to say without any exaggeration that Maksym has become the most titled pupil at the FCG in recent years. Perhaps, in time, his name will appear on our stand “THE FAMOUS GYMNASIA ALUMNI”. Yet he is known for such results today.
The American Councils in Ukraine have reported the names of the finalists of the program FLEX which is super popular among pupils at schools. Five senior pupils from Cherkasy Oblast, all of whom are from Cherkasy, will spend the academic year of 2014-2015 in the U.S. We know that the three finalists are from our Gymnasia: MANZHOLENKO IRYNA, Form 10A, OHADZHANYAN ARSEN, Form 10A and OHOL’ ANNA, Form 9A.
So, these Gymnasia pupils will spend the whole next year in the U.S.A. At present, Kovalenko Amelia (a last year finalist) is finishing studies at school in the U.S. and will arrive in Cherkassy no later than June, 18.
On the eve of the holidays, the Peace Corps in Ukraine has once again made us a gift - two large boxes with literature in English. The books will be used in educational process. The practice of giving literature as gift is extensively used by various embassies in the world. Yes, this is not the first lot of books presented to us. There are books donated by the Belgians, Germans, French, Chinese, and more.
All comers may become familiar with the presented literature in the Gymnasia library.
A traditional contest QUEEN of Gymnasia has just completed.
The jury composed of Saienko S. I., Potiomkin V. M, Kopiyka L. V., Momot Y. V. and Prodyvus Diana (the previous Queen) drew up a report after several tests for the participants and proclaimed SVITLANA CHUMAK, Form 9B, a newly elected Queen. She scored 152, 5 contest points.
The Sharapa sisters and Yermakova Yelizaveta, who scored 142 points each, were nominated Princesses-Charm and Princess-Originality respectively.
Violetta Holinko became Princess- Intelligence (137, 9 points), and Olena Bohma - Princess-Artistry (136, 5 points).
Svitlana has become the fourteenth Queen of Gymnasia.
Her first public entrance to the great stage is expected in May, during holding the Last Bell Ceremony and awarding the winners of subject Olympiads of different stages.
All the contestants received diplomas from the organizing committee, gifts and flowers, and the Queen of the FCG a deserved crown.
On April 24, the Gymnasia will host the concluding scientific and technical conference devoted to the final stage of the Gymnasia's participation in the research and experimental project of the Institute of Pedagogy of the NAU.
Since 2010 the teaching staff has been working on the implementation of the creative theme "Organizational and pedagogical conditions for innovation development of an educational institution."
On Thursday, scientists from Kyiv, principals of schools of a new type and expert teachers will come to the Gymnasia.
They will be acquainted with the results of the experiment.
On April 18, 2014, winners of the contest for the best website of the institution were awarded at the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. As it was previously reported, our Gymnasia website was among twelve best ones in Ukraine.
The participants of the victory ceremony, which took place in the hall of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, were welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Inna Sovsun, the President of IAU Tatiana Popova, the Chairman of the IAU on ICT in Education, the President of Adamant Ivan Petukhov, the Director of TRC "SvoyeRadio" Oleg Sinitsyn.
Our Gymnasia received the Diploma of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, as well as prizes from the Internet Association of Ukraine, the company "Adamant" and the TRC "SvoyeRadio."
At the Ministry of Education the awards and gifts were received by the Gymnasia principal.
He also met with the chief specialists of MESU O. Y. Kovalenko and M.K. Globa.
The nineteenth regional educational exhibition "Education in Cherkasy Oblast" has been held at Cherkasy Regional Institute of Advanced Training of Pedagogical workers since April 15.
This is an important occasion for improving the quality of education as the best works of local teachers are presented there; it also facilitates the introduction of new technologies in the educational process, promotes long-term teaching experience, creates conditions for improvement of teachers' professional skills.
The nineteenth regional educational exhibition is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Taras Shevchenko, the 60 anniversary of Cherkasy Oblast, the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War and the liberation of the area from the Nazis.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition our school was awarded with a Diploma and and a commemorative decoration "The Image of Education of Cherkasy Oblast" for the successful promotion of creative achievements of the Oblast pedagogical staff at international and national educational exhibitions.
The teacher of Spanish Bereslavs'ka Valentina Ivanivna stayed for a week in the autonomous region of Castillo and Leon, Spain.
As part of an international group she participated in the 8th Language Tourism Fair of Castile and León.
At the meetings the participants were offered a variety of language courses, which can improve Spanish, visiting places of interest and festivals and preparation for the international exam DELE.
A Group of teachers and representatives of higher education from Ukraine, Russia. Belarus and Kazakhstan visited eight language schools in Salamanca, Burgos and Vallyadolida.
There were also held meetings at two universities in Burgos and Vallyadolid.
Universities of Spain made a wide range of proposals concerning studying at Spanish state and private higher institutions.
