The gymnasium has a spacious gym with all the necessary sports equipment. There are two rooms for changing and storing sports uniforms. In 2017, the changing rooms were renovated to a high standard at the expense of the Foundation “To Ukraine through Education”. The gymnasium is located on the ground floor of the gymnasium and is equipped with modern basketball backboards. In grades 10-11, students are divided into groups of boys and girls. The curriculum allocates three weekly hours for physical education. Extracurricular activities are organized during extracurricular hours.
The school playground has a sports area where gymnasium students play sports during school hours in April-May and September-October. The playground is covered with asphalt and is in satisfactory condition. The city authorities have developed a project to modernize the sports ground, but nothing is being done at present.
Physical education is taught by three teachers - Oleksandr Mykolaiovych Molchanov (highest category, methodology teacher) and Valentyna Ivanivna Nedzelska (highest category, methodology teacher). Since 2017, a young teacher Volodymyr Lukych has been working at the gymnasium. Since 2015, Anatoliy Tur has been teaching the subject “Defense of the Fatherland”.
The greatest attention is paid to the development of children's basketball. In 2018, the boys' team took first place in the city basketball championship.
The gymnasium has given the city, Ukraine and the world such famous basketball players: Svyatoslav Mykhailyuk (class of 2013), Anton Bilous (class of 2011) and Ilya Antonenko. The first two graduates are currently playing for basketball clubs in the United States, and Ilya plays for the Cherkasy Monkeys.
Volodymyr Tkachenko, a world champion, silver medalist at the 24th Olympics in Seoul (1988), European champion, 35-time USSR swimming champion, was a graduate of the gymnasium.
Traditionally, the gymnasium holds annual competitions for boys called KOZATSKY RODU NO TRANSLATION and for girls called NUMO, GIRL.

Basketball dominates the extracurricular activities. As the coach of the Cherkasy Monkeys, Oleksandr Molchanov pays a lot of attention to this particular sport.
In 2009, the boys' team won the city stage of the Leather Ball.
After school hours, the gym is used for basketball training (coach V. Molchanov). If coaches are available, other sports can be developed.
