El da 5 de julio tuvo lugar una reunin en la editorial “Gueneza” con la participacin de los autores de manual nacional de lenguas extranjeras. Los presentes discutieron las cuestiones relacionadas con la edicin del nuevo manual del ingls, del francs, del alemn y del espaol para los alumnos del primer grado. En el encuentro se contaron con la presencia de Kovalenko O. Ya., funcionaria del Ministerio de Educacin de Ucrania y Redk V.G., del Instituto de Pedagoga.
Tambin fue invitada nuestra profesora Bereslavska V.I. como la coautora del futuro manual de la lengua espaola para el primer grado.
Viktor Stepanenko from Form 11A received 200 points at the External Independent Testing in English. We were reported about this by the parents of the Gymnasia former pupil. These have been the first 200 points in a major at the Gymnasia in the school for all the years of the EIT existence. Victor recently received the FCE international Level C1 certificate, which was the best result at the Gymnasia.
We have been waiting long for this result. Last year Starovoitova Valeriya received 200 points in mathematics.
Late May and early June abounded in international visits to the Gymnasia. So, the first to come to this parade was Lars Poignant from Germany, who acquainted himself with the People to People International center (Its coordinator is Svitlychnyy P.M.). After him, the Gymnasia was visited by a Spanish. She participated in examining the Gymnasia senior pupils in Spanish (the DELE Center.). Later, Karl-Heinz Duerr and Carmen Mattheis from Germany were at the Gymnasia for 4 days. They have just sent a photo report about their stay in Kyiv and Cherkasy.
On June 6-12, a group of 10 people from Poland was here. The site wrote much about their visit. Collaterally, Marie-France from Belgium stayed almost a month at the Gymnasia.
All these visits will result in new international projects, travels, virtual communication, training, etc.
Our Gymnasia has drawn confirmation from the British Council in Ukraine that it is the official center for conducting Cambridge university examinations. The Gymnasia has the right to prepare students from Cherkasy for taking Cambridge examinations in English and register them at the British Council. The British Council will conduct exams in English at the FCG.
Let’s remind about the fact that at the Gymnasia we have already got the Center for conducting an examination to receive the international certificate of Spanish as a foreign language DELE. So, we have two centers now.
Beginning with August admission of students to special courses is to take place.
On June 1, 2011 we will participate in the final part of the National public action - Leaders of Education of Ukraine, held in the Central Officers’ Palace in the capital of Ukraine.
The Project organizers are the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Ukraine and the Ukrainian publishing center "Galaktyka-C” (Galaxy-S).
The action is supported by the Presidential Administration and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
More than 300 laureates of the action have been considered worthy of the title "Leader of Education and Science of Ukraine", including educational and scientific institutions, prominent personalities, merited educators, people’s teachers, gifted children.
The winners will be presented with certificates, crystal awards «Leader of Education and Science of Ukraine - 2011" and copies of a launching edition of the "Leaders of Education and Science of Ukraine".
The City and Region will celebrate EUROPE DAY on May 29. Our Gymnasia will actively participate in the event.Thus, at 14. 00 p.m. the participants’ column will start at the Peoples' Friendship Palace and go towards the city center, where the city Euroclubs will represent Europe.Our Gymnasia will go under the flags of Germany.In the square near the former shop “YUNIST’” (YOUTH) Europavilions will start their work at 14.00 p.m.In two of them, the visitors will be able to see our Gymnasia pupils.In one of the pavilions the Euroclub members will talk about education in Europe, in another, basic French ( by Behmenko Vitaliy ), Spanish (by Valeriya Abramova ), English (by Pritchenko Oksana and Fatnieva Dasha ), German (by Natalia Valieyeva ) will be taught. The Gymnasia pupils will also participate in other events of Europe Day.
The Gymnasia traditional populous holiday of the “LAST BELL” was held on May 27.More than a thousand Gymnasia students, teachers and parents came into the Peoples' Friendship Palace.The holiday began at 8. 00 a.m. because of the evening concert dedicated to Chemist Day.
All the major moments of the Gymnasia life from 1 September 2010 till May 27, 2011 were shown on the stage for almost an hour and a half.During the multimedia presentation the audience actively applauded, supporting what they saw.The audience also passionately supported the Forms 4 and 11 graduates and joined the Gymnasia singers in singing.Traditionally, Gymnasia students and teachers were welcomed by Marie-France from Belgium and for the first time by Shawn Bashard, a Peace Corps volunteer.The holiday appeared to be bright, interesting and well prepared.V. Carmen Ruiz, a Spaniard, stayed almost three days in Cherkasy. She participated in examining scores of people willing to pass the exam to receive the international certificate of Spanish in our DELE center.Let us mention that our Gymnasia is the only school in Ukraine that has such a centre. There are several other centres in major cities of Ukraine, but they are affiliated to universities.Before Carmen’s arrival, we had got the centre’s stylish signboard.
Carmen conducted talks with the Gymnasia principal.They discussed issues of strengthening the resource base of the center, attracting people willing to take the exam from Kirovograd and Poltava Regions.Shokaryeva R.O. and Bereslavska V.I., teachers-employees of the center, also took part in the talks. On May 21 teachers showed the Spaniard round the town.
Today, representatives of the Gymnasia Scout squad are off to Lviv, where the 100th anniversary of the Scout organization in Ukraine will be celebrated. Ohadzhanyan Arsen, Voropay Victoria and Alexandrova Dasha will present the work of our center in the capital of Galicia. Momot Y.V., a teacher of English, was appointed the group leader.
May 28 will see the academic year of 2011-2012 come to an end for 50 Gymnasia graduates. 34 of them have received international certificates which confirm their knowledge of foreign languages. It is the educational institution’s record. 21 of them received the FCE Certificates from the British Council, 4 - TOEFL, 1 - IELTS, 1 - DELE and 7 - DELF.
A few more graduates will take a DELE certificate exam on May 20.
Let us call to mind that the Gymnasia pupils who have received these certificates, will get a “12” in a foreign language as well as in the subjects taught in this language.
Today, rewarding the winners of the nationwide contest of school media will take place in Mykolayiv. The contest has been held for several years by Mykolayiv College of Press and Television. Our newsletter "UNIKALNIY GIMNAZYST” (Unique Gymnasia Pupil) became the contest prize-winner, and Romas Yuliya, our pupil, won the first prize for her publication "And we built the UNO Model" in the first edition of the publication in 2010. She won for the best coverage of international issues in school media. Not only the pupil, but also the magazine editor Vasitska S.K. will be awarded.

Yesterday, when the whole city celebrated Victory Day, our Gymnasia pupils not only took part in the city celebrations, but also had a visitor from Sweden. Lars Puanian, a representative of the international organization “People to People International”, met with the Gymnazia pupils and the project coordinator in the FCG –Svitlychniy P.M. The guest spoke about the prospects of the project’s development, and the Gymnazia pupils presented the work of the FCG in PTPI. Lars Puanian performs a kind of methodological inspection trip to Ukraine which has the PTPI centres.
The guest will bring back to Sweden small gifts from the FCG, which he was presented by the principal and Ananieva N.V., a deputy principal.
Beginning with April 29 a training of senior pupils will begin in the City Council. It will start with a meeting with Serhiy Odarych, the City Mayor, in Room 206 at 14. 30. In all, 81 senior pupils expressed their desire to learn the work of the local government from the inside; among them there are 8 pupils from our Gymnasia.

From 16 to 18 April 2011 eight best basketball teams of Ukraine fought youthful
championship in Dnipropetrovsk in the age category of those born in 1995. Among the members of Team "Cherkassy Mavpy-2005 there were three of our Gymnasia students: Bilous Anton, Voyevoda Nikita Mykhailiuk Svyatoslav. They won all the other teams and become the champions of Ukraine. So far we have got as many as three champions.

We have already reported that preparation for the FCE exam was first organized in the Gymnasia this year. Several months later, 19 graduates prepared hard for taking the important exam. The Gymnasia students were prepared by Vakulenko O.O., a teacher-methodologist.
Almost a month ago, representatives of the British Council in Ukraine personally examined our graduates. On April 20, we received the result exceeding our expectations. One Gymnasia student (Stepanenko Victor) has got international Level C1 certificate, 18 students have got Level B2 Certificates.
Next year, beginning with October 2011, we are going to offer services in preparation for the FCE exam for every interested graduate from Cherkasy. At the time, we are waiting for a corresponding permission certified by the British council.
We have already written about the participation of our students in the debate session held by the public organization “New Vision” in Dnipropetrovsk . Last night we came to know that the English team "EXPLORER", among the members of which were our Gymnasia students DROBYSH Serhiy and MYKHAYLYK Natalia, was the strongest and won the first place. Let’s recall that our team participated in debates for the first time. CONGRATULATIONS!
JOURNAL “SVIT VYKHOVANNYA" (“WORLD OF EDUCATION”),
No. 2, 2011 has been just out of print. It is fully devoted to the subject of the development of schools of the future. On page 42 there is an extensive article "The concept of polylinguistic school as a model school of the future", written by Ananieva N.V.,a vice-principal.
Besides this article, two more author collectives offer their model schools of the future. The journal contains several FCG photos. The journal may be found in the library. We would like to remind you that since 2009 the Gymnasia has become a member of the Ukrainian Association of Schools of the Future (all in all, 52 Ukrainian schools take part in the project), and recently the model of the school of the future developed by Ananieva N.V. was awarded a valuable prize and recognized as one of the top eight projects at the national level.
Five Gymnasia students (Golovko Maryna, Mykhailyk Natalia,Avdieyenko Zlata, Serhiy Drobysh and Andriy Rymar) and Yakovenko L.M., a teacher of physics, went today to Dnipropetrovsk to participate in the debate session of the public organization "New Vision". It has held debate tournaments four years on end. The subject of the debate is "The Future of Space." Our debaters will participate in the English and Ukrainian language groups. We are beginners at the tournament. We will study hard.
