The earlier announced exhibition “I am a collector” was held today. 17 gymnasia students, the principal and Ovcharova N.A., a teacher, exhibited their collections. For two long breaks a large crowd of gymnasia pupils were taking view of the collection of pencils and stamps, coins and various amazing trinkets with curiosity. Many gymnasia pupils admitted that they had not expected such attention to the exhibition. Some wanted to take part in such an exhibition the next time. Form 5 A pupils were the most active.
All the participants will receive diplomas for taking part in the first exhibition “I am a collector”.
The Gymnasia administration announces that a traditional school graduates' reunion is to be held at 12. 00 a.m. on February 5. It will take place in the Gymnasia’s Assembly Hall.
The Department of Education and Humanitarian Policy brought an order to the knowledge of schools' administrations, defining the names of the pupils that would represent the city at the third stage of the All-Ukrainian subject competitions. 42 pupils, representing our gymnasia, will participate in the regional subject competitions. Some of them will do that for the first time, without having taken part at the city stage. They will instantly participate in the third round of the competitions as they won the on-line subject competitions held by the RIrTPW.

Traditionally, in the early days of the new year, we determine the most important events that took place in the Gymnasia in 2010.
On November 26, 2010 the Gymnasia celebrated its 130th anniversary.
In May, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk signed a decree stating that the Gymnasia was to become an experimental institution of the national level.
The Gymnasia pupils gained 18 victories at IV stage of All-Ukrainian subject competitions, that has become a record for all the years of the institution’s existence.
Natalia V. Rebenko, an English teacher, received a high rank of Merited Teacher of Ukraine.
A children's publication UNIKAL’NY GYMNASYST was created.
In June, a group of the Gymnasia teachers and students visited the sister city of Santa Rosa, California, USA.
A group of the Gymnasia students worked on probation for the tenth time in Arlon, Belgium. An agreement to extend the project was concluded.
Shawn Bashard, a Peace Corps volunteer started to work in the Gymnasia.
The Gymnasia Assembly hall was repaired.
The Ambassadors of Belgium and Argentina visited the Gymnasia.

On the eve of New Year’s day we received greetings from Oleksandr Samarsky, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Iran.

According to No. 896/2010 Decree of the President of Ukraine of September 8, 2010 Oleksandr Samarsky was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
For their part, the Gymnasia administration sent congratulations to its former student.
Members of the Centre for Children's Diplomacy, which received a new impetus on the eve of Christmas holidays, know it well. The members of the Centre decided to improve their work. So, it is to be managed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Myroslava Savis’ko. Instead of the Centre’s President. The Centre members will become ambassadors to the countries whose languages are taught at school. However, there will be more than 12 of them, because English is an official language in several countries.
So the Centre’s gambit was the carefully prepared printed materials that described how various peoples of the world celebrated New Year's Eve. The works can be seen in the Gymnasia’s central showcase. Believe me, they are interesting.
The Ukrainian Institute of Contemporary Art in Chicago is organizing an exhibition of drawings of pupils from Ukraine in December 2011.
The Institute has offered pupils from our Gymnasia to participate in the exhibition. The pupils of 7-11 forms can submit their works to Alla Valentynivna Shkaraputa, a teacher of Fine Arts (063 3416239) till March 1, 2011. The subjects of works are to be associated with the works of Ukrainian writers, preferably modern, read by the author.
The following technique of design is to be followed - an A3 or bigger sheet, tempera, gouache, water colours or graphics.
Sylenko V.A., a teacher of History and Law, participated in the meeting of a working group on drafting the Concept of Teaching History at School (pursuant to the decision of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of August 20, 2010 and Order #1039 of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine of "The Establishment of a Working Group on the Preparation of the Concept of Teaching History at School" of 01. 11. 2010).
The working group meeting was held in Kiev on December 17. The working group includes 25 participants, mostly scientists and 5 practical teachers, including our teacher.

As we have already reported, a great Rotarian chief, the Governor of District 2230, which includes Ukraine, Poland and Bilorus, visited the gymnasia on December 2. Piotr Vyhnanchuk met with the members of Interact and Rotaract-smile (a student Rotarian public organization).
Piotr spent a whole hour only speaking English with the young. He was extremely impressed by the gymnasia pupils’ level of English. Piotr promised to find partner clubs in Poland for our Interact.
The substantial talk was actively kept up by Interact president Aliona Kalchuk and Rotaract-smile president Ivan Lytvyn, a former Interact president.
The governor presented a lot of Interakt members with unique Rotarian badges, souvenirs, treated them to Polish candies.
The Gymnasia administration announces that the first contest-show "MY FLUFFY FRIEND" will be held in the Assembly hall of the Gymnasia on 16 December.
The contest-show of domestic cats and exotic rabbits, hamsters and guinea pigs will take place in the Assembly hall from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. All the pets must be kept in individual cages. All the participants and winners will receive prizes.
The show coordinator is Kateryna Boboshko, a pedagogue-organizer. Preliminary applications of gymnasia pupils must be also submitted to her. Tel. +38 063 1697438.
The City Office of Methods of Teaching published on its website the results of the city round of Petro Jatsyk all-Ukrainian contest of the Ukrainian language experts. We have four winners:
Interact-Cherkasy Club will hold a regular sitting on December 1. Organization of a meeting with the Governor of District 2230 Peter Vyhnanchuk from Poland will be considered. He is going to hold a short-term meeting with the members of Interact and Rotaract.
The sitting will be held in the reception room at 15. 30 on December 1.
During the celebration of the 130th anniversary of the gymnasia on November 26 , an agreement on cooperation with Kyiv International Relations Lyceum No 51, was signed anew. The agreement was signed by the Gymnasia principal and Svetlana M. Shevtsova, the Lyceum principal.
She and her deputy took part in the celebration of our school’s anniversary.
Both sides agreed on promoting cooperation between the two schools, members of the ASP.
Soon, the Gymnasia principal will travel to Kyiv, where another agreement will be signed.
The contest of the Ukrainian language connoisseurs named after Petro Yatsyk was held on November 9. Its winners were: Velychkina Victoriya, Form 11B, Behmenko Vitaliy, Form 10B, Kovalenko Oleksandra, Form 9A, Hanenko Julia, Form 7B, Nishchenko Valeriya, Form 4B, Ozeran Kseniya, Form 4B, Kovalenko Matviy, 4B, Shkiniova Kateryna, Form 4A, Pozharova Milena, Form 3B, Gavryliuk Anastasiya, Form 3B, Barylko Vesta, Form 3A, Taranenko Kateryna, Form 2B, Duda Kateryna, Form 2A.
Congratulations to the winners. All of them will be handed special Gymnasia diplomas. The pupils will also participate in the city round of the contest which will be held on November 28.
6 teachers headed by the principal from the small French town of Byuzanse, that is in the center of France, spent a day in the gymnasia. They attended specially arranged for them English lessons conducted by teachers Vakulenko O.O. and Uhan' A.O. The purpose of their visit is to learn the state of teaching foreign languages in schools of Cherkassy.
Mademoiselle Rabaste, Principal of College Immacule Conaption, spent almost an hour discussing possibilities of further cooperation with the principal of the gymnasia.
The US Association of Ukrainian-language schools “Educational Council” once again sent us a large parcel of literature. The books are given to the library and may be freely used. Currently, we have about 500 books from the U.S., including unique editions.
In the framework of the gymnasia's participation in the nationwide project "School: The Territory of Rights", its headmaster, as a participant of the project, visited Kyiv on October 15-16, where the conference "The Development of Education in the sphere of human rights in Ukraine" was held. More than 300 participants from all regions of the country took part in the conference. The goal of the conference was to discuss the progress of education in the sphere of human rights in Ukraine.
